## Change Statistics

### Code Changes
- Files modified: 3
- Files created: 4
- New TypeScript code: ~550 lines
- New test/example code: 20+ lines
- Type definitions: 150+ lines

### Documentation
- Files created: 5
- Total documentation: ~2000 lines
- Guides: 4 comprehensive
- Code examples: 45+
- Configuration presets: 4

### Configuration
- Example guardrails configs: Multiple presets
- Test configuration updated with complete example

## Backward Compatibility

✅ **Fully backward compatible**

- Old `GuardrailsConfig` format continues to work
- All new fields are optional
- No breaking changes to existing interfaces
- Graceful degradation if guardrails disabled
- Existing analysis workflows unchanged

## Breaking Changes

❌ **None**

All changes are purely additive or optional enhancement.

## Migration Guide

### From Old Guardrails to New

**Old config (still works)**:
```json
{
  "maxTokensPerRun": 250000,
  "maxDurationSeconds": 3600,
  "warnThresholds": { "tokenPercentage": 80 }
}
```

**New config (enhanced)**:
```json
{
  "enabled": true,
  "maxTokensPerRun": 250000,
  "maxDurationSeconds": 3600,
  "maxCostDollars": 50,
  "maxTokensPerPhase": {
    "discovery": 100000,
    "analysis": 150000,
    "sanityChecks": 50000
  },
  "warnThresholds": {
    "tokenPercentage": 80,
    "phaseTokenPercentage": 85,
    "iterationTokenPercentage": 85
  }
}
```

**Steps to migrate**:
1. Keep existing `maxTokensPerRun` and `maxDurationSeconds`
2. Add `maxTokensPerPhase` with suggested allocations
3. Add `maxCostDollars` if managing costs
4. Test with new configuration
5. Monitor `phaseMetrics` and `iterationMetrics`

## Testing Notes

### Verified
- ✅ TypeScript compilation (skipLibCheck)
- ✅ GuardrailsManager syntax
- ✅ Type definitions
- ✅ Configuration schema
- ✅ AnalysisEngine integration
- ✅ No breaking changes

### Recommended Tests
- Unit tests for GuardrailsManager
- Integration tests with full analysis
- Configuration validation
- Metric persistence
- State file compatibility
